Emma and Austin are such a sweet couple! We had so much fun exploring Tuscaloosa, AL for their Riverwalk and Capitol Park Engagement! Emma and Austin live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, which is where I started my business. It was special to go back to the city where my business began! However, in all the time I lived in Tuscaloosa, I had never been to Capitol Park! I was so excited to shoot there for the first time! The sun was glowing behind the trees providing the perfect light as the couple walked through the grounds. I loved Emma’s red shirt paired with Austin’s black shirt. It was the perfect combo!
After Capitol Park, we headed to Riverwalk. I love going to the Riverwalk! I knew that would be such a great spot for pictures! Emma and Austin were so sweet together. Watching them twirl around as the sun was setting over the water was so romantic. It was the perfect setting for engagement portraits.
As we chatted, Emma told me she is a middle school math teacher! I loved getting to geek out over our love of math together since I used to teach 3rd grade math and loved it! She is such a sweet person and I could tell that she is an amazing teacher.
I love hearing how couples meet and especially love hearing proposal stories! Emma and Austin met at church in the college ministry through some mutual friends. They left late from bible study one evening, when they got held up by a wreck for about twenty minutes. Since they were stuck in traffic, Austin parked his car beside Emma so they could talk. During that conversation, he finally asked for Emma’s number and then asked her out!! You can guess how the rest of the story goes!
For their proposal, Emma recalled that her “friend Kayla and I were having a fancy girls night. We had to go pick up something from her cousins, so I thought. Then we ended up in a beautiful location behind a church. Austin was waiting with flowers in his tux. Some other friends had put pictures, made signs, and decorated where he proposed. Then we took some pictures and left to eat. Again I thought we were going to a restaurant but instead we went to the church and all of our immediate family and bridal party were there to celebrate.”
What an amazing surprise proposal! It was such a joy to get to know this beautiful couple and capture their romantic engagement session in Tuscaloosa. They are so incredibly sweet and the perfect couple. I am so grateful that I was able to capture this season of their relationship. Congratulations, Emma and Austin!
