A few months ago, I shared a few of my favorite images from Emily and Nick’s engagement session in Downtown Birmingham, Alabama. I remember their engagement session so well as they are the sweetest couple, and we had such a wonderful time exploring Railroad Park with all the gorgeous fall foliage. You can check out my blog post of their Engagement Session to learn more about them. I recently captured the start of a new chapter in their lives as they said “I Do!” Emily and Nick’s Douglas Manor Wedding in Columbiana, AL was nothing short of amazing, and I was so honored to be there to capture it!
It was a perfect day for an outdoor wedding with clear blue skies and endless sunshine. Emily looked absolutely breathtaking in her wedding dress! Emily did a first look with her dad, who was also taken away by the beauty of his daughter. It was the sweetest moment!! He also showed her that he had special socks made with her face on them from when she was a little girl. I thought it was such a fun idea and so cute!! I love how creative dads get for their little girls on their wedding days. First looks of daughters with their dads are so special, but even more so for me now that I know Hallie Kate will have that with David one day. It definitely gets me in my feels!!
I love that Emily and Nick chose to have a first touch, instead of a first look! They wanted to do something together before the ceremony since they wanted to wait to see each other as Emily was walking down the aisle. They held hands on either side of a pillar in the reception area and took a moment to exchange letters and pray together before the wedding ceremony. I loved that they chose to do things a little different to make it special to them and their story!
Emily and Nick chose romantic and classic wedding details with white and pink hues sprinkled throughout the ceremony and reception. The bridal party looked stunning in their dusty pink long dresses and classic white bouquets. Even Emily’s dog, the “dog of honor” wore a woven white flower and green leaf collar as she walked down the aisle!
After the ceremony, we took a few pictures out in the gorgeous field of Douglas Manor featuring a lovely landscape of tall grass and white flowers. The night ended with a bang as fireworks lit the sky putting on a wonderful display! After the fireworks, all the guests lined up with sparklers to celebrate and send off the newlyweds. It was truly the perfect ending to a flawless wedding day! Congratulations Emily & Nick!
