In today’s busy world and the rising costs of inflation, you may be wondering how you can afford the time and investment into capturing your family in this stage of life. I understand. As a mom and wife, it feels time is passing so quickly, and there are days when it feels overwhelming to plan or schedule a session (or to budget for one). That’s why I created my exclusive mini session opportunities: giving families the chance to have a stress-free and beautiful experience without so many of the hurdles that make family photos hard. Here are just some of the reasons why my clients love mini sessions (and why we sell out of slots so quickly!):
-Mini sessions are less overwhelming for the littlest ones: If you have children under five, you know that they are changing rapidly (their little faces!), but you also know that family photos can feel hard because of short attention spans. A shorter, more condensed family photo mini is the perfect amount of time to make family photos a positive experience for them, and help them associate photos with fun. I also recommend minis if you are a family who doesn’t do photos often and you want to ease your children into the process of scheduling more frequently. Some families opt to do two mini sessions a year in order to have more consistent photos.
-Mini sessions are more affordable: If you are looking to budget for a family session, mini sessions are less expensive than a full session and offer plenty of beautiful images for you to choose from. If you need to update your living room portraits or your holiday cards, you’ll have exactly what you need. I love that mini sessions also are more accessible for families who may not have been able to afford a full session in the past…I believe every family deserves portraits to treasure. However, just because you are getting a shorter and more condensed session, you will get the same quality of images as any of my other shoots (my editing and culling processes are the same), so rest assured!
-These sessions are convenient: It can be really hard for families to find a good time for photos. With my mini session opportunities, the dates and times are set, and you simply choose the slot that’s best for you. Rather than going back and forth with family members or experiencing decision fatigue over the dates or location, all that work has already been done for you! I’ve heard from many clients that it’s a relief to simply choose a slot and show up. The mental load of being a parent is REAL, and mini sessions take out some of the mental gymnastics for my clients.
-Mini sessions are a chance to bond together: I have many clients who are new, and others who are legacy clients (who have used me for many life events). No matter where you fall on the spectrum, booking a mini is a great way to build rapport and trust with me, but it can also be a bonding experience. Now, before you say, “Chelsea, there is no way! Family photos simply make us sweat and cry!”, hear me out! It’s a great time to practice skills within family like planning outfits, budgeting, or time management. If you have older children, you can include them in the process by giving them tasks like helping shop for shoes, steaming outfits, or even helping choose images for the family holiday card! You may be surprised with how the experience brings you together and can be positive. End your session day with an ice cream or dinner out to help solidify it as a positive!
I’m thrilled to offer a few mini session opportunities a year, and you can find out about them by joining our VIP email list!
