Love stories have a way of unfolding in the most unexpected places. The unassuming moments of the everyday can turn into the ones that change our lives, and can even lead you to your soulmate. Jennifer and Jay, whose journey from acquaintances to soulmates is a testament to serendipity, recently celebrated their anticipated wedding day! Here are some of the intricacies that made their day truly memorable:
Their story began at Canterbury, where Jennifer was working at the time. Jay had just joined a small group after his move from Washington, D.C., and they struck up a friendship in that small group. What started as a friendship blossomed into a romance a year and a half later, and reminded them both that love can start from unassuming beginnings! After they had been dating seriously, it was time for Jay to pop the question, and he put a grand plan into place. He orchestrated a surprise trip to Jennifer’s favorite city (Charleston), and set the stage for a proposal at Battery Park. This thoughtful and romantic gesture began the next chapter of their story.
Their decision for a private first look in the sanctuary, with Jennifer walking down the aisle, was particularly special and sweet. I’ve seen a lot of first looks in my years of wedding photography, but this one was a tear-jerker!
From casual meals at Jack Browns to intimate date nights at Le Fresca, Jennifer and Jay share a love for specific restaurants that hold special memories for them. Their hobbies, though diverse, complement each other; golf for Jay, and a passion for cooking and reading for Jennifer. Together, they find lots of joy in attending concerts, creating a balance in their shared interests. I loved that they managed to have fun every step of the way while planning and enjoying their wedding day!
Their wedding day was a montage of carefully planned moments, and they all contributed to the narrative of their personalized day. Jennifer got ready at Canterbury’s bridal suite, which held sentimental value for her, and the groom shared the familiarity by getting ready at the same venue. The ceremony began in the early evening, and the party continued with a beautiful reception at Florentine. At the end, the happy couple planned to exit in a whimsical golf cart. For the couple, capturing people enjoying themselves at the reception was one of their biggest priorities! They really wanted to capture the joy and connection of their day, so they could relive the memories for years to come!
