Kirsten and Ryan have been together for over five years, so this proposal has been a long time coming. I first met Kirsten through a girl in my Pi Chi group during Recruitment week at Auburn. I saw Kirsten again and met Ryan through my husband as he and Ryan were in the same fraternity at Auburn. We all instantly became friends and were roommates during their fraternity formal in Charleston our freshman year. Recently, I had been wondering when Kirsten and Ryan were going to get engaged because I knew they had already looked at rings, so I figured it had to be soon.
A little over a month ago, Ryan contacted me and asked if I could take some pictures for him of their proposal. I was so excited that they were finally getting engaged, but even more excited that I got to be there to witness and capture it!
Ryan went through several different plans for the proposal, as the first few had to be changed due to weather and other events interfering. His final plan was the Temple of Sibyl in Vestavia, and y’all, it was beautiful! It was decorated for Christmas complete with twinkle lights and a Christmas tree in the middle of the temple. I am such a sucker for twinkle lights, so I immediately fell in love with this plan. I don’t think he could have chosen a better location.
After they finished eating a wonderful meal at Gianmarcos, they headed up to the temple for Ryan to propose. She was so surprised and immediately said yes. After snapping a few more pictures of the two of them after she said yes, we headed back to Ryan’s house where he had yet another surprise for Kirsten! He had told her they were just meeting up with both of their families, but he had secretly planned a whole party for them! As soon as they walked in the door and saw everyone, everyone screamed and Kirsten started crying. She was so surprised!
This was one of the sweetest proposals I’ve gotten to be a part of, and I can’t wait to see this next chapter of their lives unfold as husband and wife! Congratulations you guys!
