There’s something so magical about late winter transitioning into early spring—the crisp air, the first blooms peeking through, and that golden light that seems to hint at new beginnings. Shannah and Greg’s engagement session at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Railroad Park was the perfect celebration of their love and the season of change that comes with it.
Shannah is a sweet friend of mine from graduate school at the University of Alabama, and I was beyond thrilled when she reached out to have me document this special time in her and Greg’s lives. Being able to photograph friends as they embark on such a meaningful journey is always an honor, and these two made it so easy with their undeniable chemistry and joyful spirits.
Romantic Strolls at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens
We started our session at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, a classic and romantic location filled with lush greenery and elegant pathways. Even in late winter, the gardens offered a timeless backdrop with soft hints of early spring blooms. Shannah looked absolutely radiant in a flowing dress that perfectly complemented the natural tones of the gardens, while Greg’s classic style tied everything together seamlessly. As they strolled hand in hand through the gardens, laughing and stealing sweet glances, it was clear how deeply they cherish one another.
Sunset Glow at Railroad Park
After capturing some dreamy, light-filled portraits at the gardens, we made our way to Railroad Park for a more modern, urban touch. The contrast between the botanical elegance and the contemporary cityscape gave their gallery a beautifully diverse feel. The golden hour light created the most romantic glow as Shannah and Greg embraced, danced, and soaked in the excitement of their engagement season.
