What do you do when your wedding is scheduled for the same day that a shelter-in-place order goes into effect?? You move all your plans for your wedding day up so that you can be complying with the law by the time the order goes into effect! That’s exactly what Niki and Johnathan did. As I mentioned in Niki and Johnathan’s engagement session blog post last week (see it here!), this was not the first time they planned how their wedding would go. They have had to make so many adjustments to their wedding plans over the past year, that by the time Saturday finally came, they were just so ready to be married!
When I arrived at the private property they were getting married on that morning, I was blown away! The property was absolutely breathtaking and had such gorgeous scenery! I couldn’t imagine this not being part of their original plan! As I began shooting all the details of the day, Niki told me that she did all the flowers herself with her mom’s help. I was blown away! Not only did she do the arrangements, but she had also gone and found all of them at various stores the night before her wedding since the flowers she ordered had not come in! I think she did an incredible job, and maybe she has some floral design in her future! 😉
One thing I really love about Niki and Johnathan is that even though they had moved the times for everything up that day because they knew they had to be finished at a certain time for the shelter-in-place order, they truly took the time to enjoy the day. They weren’t running around panicking getting ready and worrying; instead, they were relaxed, excited, and just taking in the moments with their closest friends and family. It was such a breath of fresh air to see these two truly focused on what was important that day.
Their ceremony took place outside overlooking the gorgeous lake, and what gorgeous weather we were blessed with! It was sunny and warm and just a perfect day! We took all of the bride and groom portraits as well as family and bridal party portraits after the ceremony, and they even squeezed in a little time for Niki to fish for a few minutes. 🙂 They enjoyed their afternoon dancing to their first dance song, toasting, cutting and eating cake, and feasting on delicious catering. What a beautiful, special day to celebrate the love of The Sorters! Congratulations you two! I am so happy for you both!! 🙂
