Taylor and Chad have one of the sweetest and most unique love stories I have ever heard. They met in high school and began dating in 2010 thanks to some of their mutual friends. Chad was a few years older, so when he graduated from high school and signed with Auburn to play football, they decided to date on and off. When Taylor graduated from high school, she decided to move down to Auburn, and they started dating full time. While Chad was playing football for Auburn, the two of them got to share the excitement of two national championship games and two SEC championship games. (How neat is that?!) Chad went on to earn his Master’s degree from Auburn during his final year of eligibility while Taylor was finishing up her degree as well. In the winter of 2015, they found out they were having a baby. Chad was training for the NFL in Nashville, so Taylor decided to move back to Birmingham with her family until they knew where Chad would end up. Chad signed with the Houston Texans in May of 2015 and has been there ever since! Their son, Braxton Luke Slade was born on October 4, 2015, and he has been their biggest blessing. Chad proposed to Taylor on February 3, 2016, which was their six year anniversary (yes, you read that correctly- SIX years!), and they decided to wait to get married as they were adjusting to life with a newborn. Taylor wanted a wedding, but decided that because they already had a son, they would rather put the money towards Braxton and his future.
The one thing Taylor really wanted regardless of if she eloped or had a big wedding was pictures to remember their special day by. That’s where I came into the story! Taylor contacted me back when she was still planning on having a big wedding, but then decided that it would be financially smarter and less stressful to have an intimate elopement with just family present. I was so excited Taylor asked me to capture this monumental moment in their lives that they had been waiting so long for! They decided to elope in Pell City, Alabama and take pictures at her grandparents’ house. Despite the rain that day, their joy of being married overpowered any inconveniences the weather tried to cause. When I got to Taylor’s grandparents’ house, the rain faded to a slight drizzle and gave us the perfect opening to capture their special day!
Taylor said to me today, “It’s been almost a week since we did it, and we have no regrets! It was so stress free and the best decision I could have made. We are happy and finally married after 7 years together!”
Enjoy a few of my favorite snapshots from Taylor and Chad’s special day! 🙂
